… and it was the Turtle Back Zoo!
Mommy realized that she hasn’t been to a zoo in lots and lots of years, so it was decided that for a Mother’s Day outing, we’d head off to the Turtle Back Zoo. Everybody had a good time once things got rolling and I know that most of you have heard the story already, so here’s the recap.
The zoo is indeed a little on the small side, but in a way, that’s kind of nice. We were able to go around and see all of the exhibits and were able to find animals in all of the pens (except for the underground ones where the animals were all hiding from the heat). I think that was a nice tradeoff for lack of a wide variety. A couple of my favorites were the otters and the sea lions. The combination of their playful nature, especially the otters, and the fact that they were in water led to a good show. That also made them easier to find for somebody who’s never ever seen one before compared to, say, the turtles who just sat there like a lump. The birds were also fun; they have lots of fun colors. And number one activity: the train ride. I’m sure you heard about the stink I made when it was over and we had to get off.
So there you have it. Maybe we’ll go back again in the later summer or fall when the temperatures start to moderate a little.
We love the turtle back zoo too! The train is the best.
I’m tagging along with you next time you visit the zoo, Baby Cakes.
